| Description*: | At the tender age of fifteen, Charon McKay disappeared from the small coastal town of Innsmouth. When she turns up, nine month later, she is incoherent and raving; and slightly more surprising…pregnant. No one knows who the father is and even Charon is unable to remember what happened to her. The only thing people know for sure is that she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Rebecca Sue McKay and that both her and her mother are decidedly strange. In fact, most people stay away from them entirely. But Charon and Becka have more immediate worries. Strange creatures have appeared in Innsmouth and awaken dark and terrifying powers within the girls. You are looking for a simple horror story with gorgeous looking babes and evil monsters? Then you are wrong here, because Shadowgirls is far more! It is a well written epos with deep characters and lots of plot twists which let you beg for more! (And of course the babes look hot, too!)

Shadowgirls started in 2007 and the first season just ended. So it's a good moment to start reading it, because you can already read through one big storyarc!

Writing. Art. Pacing. Lovecraft. This one's amazing on every level. Read it.
The art is fantastic to look at excellent use of light and shadows to convey the needed dark tone. But what gets me is how expression-full the characters are. You can almost tell what Charon is thinking by the look in her eyes.
The story is excellent. It provides things the Mythos has been missing for a very long time; strong female characters you care about and the importance of family and friends.
Come for the Lovecraft influenced horror, but stay for the characters.
